It’s tie dye and skit day!

We put the kids to work again today, they cleaned the pasture where Sesame stays and groomed her. She looks so clean and happy!

Garden time

Each pepper group went to the EDU Garden to pick some weeds and water our garden! They created a huge pile of all the weeds that got picked too. Our garden looks so much better now with the help of our campers.

Fox walk and owl eyes

This morning camper groups took a walk into our 60-acre forest. We use the idea of a quiet, purposeful "fox walk" and the observing "owl eyes" for campers to use when exploring the forest. We like forest hikes to be a full experience. There is so much to see, hear, feel, and smell in the forest if they use all their senses like the animals that call it home do.

Garden Kitchen

Smoothies are a weekly treat for campers! Ms. Kali made a yummy banana smoothie, or the campers call it a milkshake since you use milk in it. For a traveling snack, they got yummy homemade popcorn. Campers even got to choose what spices and toppings they wanted on it! Along with the popcorn, they got popsicles as a refreshing treat!

Wrens & Jays

The purpose of this game is for the wrens to hide as many eggs as possible and the jays empty the wrens’ nest. The winner is the wren with the most eggs. They had so much fun playing this game in the children’s garden.

Ultrasound on goats

Have you ever gotten an ultrasound? Doctors will do it to see inside and make sure you’re healthy. We did it on our goats today, the kids found it super cool!

STEAM Five Freedoms Presentation

Today, our pepper groups presented their projects to each other while a steward filmed it on a super cute camera that JP, our Steward made! It even had a microphone attached.

DIY Bath Bombs

As a fun project to take home, campers got to create bath bombs! It was super messy, the kids loved it and they kept saying their hands smelled clean.

Skits!

It’s the best way to wrap up the week, I love seeing the kids get creative with their skits! They show their parents what they’ve learned throughout the week, which is so fun to see what they’ve taken in from camp.

That's a wrap on Young Vets 2023! This was a newer camp Tollgate has done and it was a success. Be sure to check out more photos from this week here:
