From reducing the risk of developing chronic illnesses to building muscle strength, adding physical activity into our daily routines can help us lead healthier lives — no matter our age, ability or skill level.

Building those habits, however, can sometimes feel overwhelming.

With that in mind, MSU Extension has partnered with the Move Your Way® campaign. The campaign is led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in an effort to promote the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.

As part of this partnership, MSU Extension is launching a digital marketing campaign to promote its Physical Activity website, which houses a variety of free virtual resources, such as educational articles and instructional videos. Resources are tailored for different age groups, from children to seniors, and focus on four key areas:

The site also features the Move Your Way® Activity Planner, which can help people determine a plan for physical activity tailored to their goals and interests.

“Many people think of being physically active as a structured workout using exercise equipment, but everything from dancing to chasing your kids around the house counts as physical activity,” said Gibbs. “There are plenty of ways to get moving with the things you have at home, and to be active doing things that you enjoy.”

New educational content — created by MSU Extension nutrition and physical activity experts — will be regularly added to the site, as well as on MSU Extension’s MI Health Matters social media channels, including Facebook and YouTube.
