The annual World Economic Forum Urban Transformation Summit took place in Detroit, Michigan gathering community, economic, and sustainable leaders from across the globe to address the emerging climate crisis. Sandra Lupien, Director of MassTimber@MSU, was honored to bring mass timber to the conversation for the second year in a row.

Lupien had the opportunity to highlight the Michigan Statewide Carpenters & Millwrights Join Apprenticeship & Training Fund, which is a critical stepping point in mainstreaming the use of mass timber. Sandra Lupien shares, “Something I’m really excited about that’s happening right here in Detroit this year is that the Michigan Statewide Carpenters and Millwrights have developed and launched mass timber installation training at their Detroit training facility. It’s great to be here in the city where that’s all happening and to try and make sure that other folks know about it and can use what our carpenters here in Michigan and some others around United States are doing to make sure that we have the skilled carpenters we need to install mass timber.”
