Ashmita Das is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Environmental Science at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). Her broad research interests include food systems and agroecology, public participation in environmental decision-making, and environmental education. Her current research focuses on perception and governance of gene-edited foods. Ashmita holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from SUNY ESF and a B.S. in Environmental Science from SUNY Binghamton. Prior to beginning graduate school, she worked as an urban environmental educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County. She also currently serves as a Scholar Trustee on the board of the Central and Western New York Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
