Module 28: Avoiding Unintentional Plagiarism Part 1

Summary:

This is a two-part series about avoiding unintentional plagiarism.  In part one, you will learn about the different types of plagiarism, how to avoid plagiarism, and how to use plagiarism checking software. This module contains a video recording of the training session and PDF version of the presented slides. This training session was co-organized by collaborators at the Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC, Uganda), and the Center for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law/Innovation Lab for Policy Leadership in Agriculture and Food Security (CPEEL/PiLAF, Nigeria).

Objectives:

  • Understand what plagiarism is and learn about the various types of plagiarism
  • Learn how to properly paraphrase to avoid plagiarizing
  • Recognize examples of plagiarism
  • Review how to use plagiarism checking software
