PRCI is committed to promoting gender equality through its research and capacity building efforts.  To meet this commitment PRCI uses the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI).  WEAI was developed collaboratively between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).  WEAI can be used to identify barriers and economic constraints that limit women’s empowerment and may be used to track gender equality, agency, and women’s inclusion in the agricultural sector.
