Homemade Baby Food - Pear Puree

Try this simple recipe for making homemade pear puree baby food!


Pears

Cook Time: 15 Minutes


Ingredients

  • 1 pear
  • 1-2 tsp. breastmilk or formula or water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash your hands using soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  2. Clean and sanitize all food preparation surfaces, including equipment like your knife and cutting board.
  3. Fill a saucepan with 1-2 inches of water and place steamer basket inside. Cover the lid and bring to a boil.
  4. Select a firm pear that is free from bruises or blemishes.
  5. Rinse the pear under clean, cool water and scrub the skin with your hands or a vegetable brush.
  6. Peel, core, and chop the pear into smaller pieces.
  7. Place the pears in the steam basket and steam until fork tender, about 15 minutes.
  8. Once soft, place the pear pieces into a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
  9. Optional, add liquid (water, breastmilk or formula), starting with one teaspoon until desired consistency is reached.
  10. Allow it to cool before serving to baby. Discard uneaten puree within two hours.

*Do not add seasonings to puree.
