The ATLAS Suntext XLS+ photoreactor is an advanced benchtop xenon tester with an irradiance range of 250-600 W/m2 at 300-800 nm wave length, measures and displays the chamber air temperature (CHT) and has 10 space for custom programs. The photoreactor has a 1100 cm2 exposure area, and can be used to study physical, chemical and biological changes of samples upon light exposure.

Malvern Zetasizer Nano-ZS (Room 525 PSSB)

Malvern Zetasizer Nano-ZS

The Malvern Zetasizer Nano-ZS is a premium and popular system with the highest sensitivity and widest range of measured parameters for performing the following measurements:

  • Particle size distribution (0.3 nm to 10 microns) by Dynamic Light Scattering
  • Zeta potential and electrophoretic mobility by Laser Doppler Microelectrophoresis
  • Molecular weight (342 to 2x1E7 Da) by Static Light Scattering

In addition, our system is also equipped with a MPT-2 Multipurpose titrator that is used in conjunction with the zetasizer for automated measurements of particle size, zeta potential, or scattering intensity as a function of solution pH, conductivity, or additive concentrations. This functionality allows us to conveniently examine how solution chemistry influences surface charge and aggregation states of particles. More detailed information can be found at the Malvern website.

Fraction Collector

ISCO Retriever 500 fraction collectors

The lab has two ISCO Retriever 500 fraction collectors for continuously collecting effluent fractions in a column experiment. The collectors work with 12-13mm tubes.
