County Awards Banquet

Please join us to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of 4-H members throughout the 2018-2019 4-H year. Members will receive their individual project award pins, I Dare You Award recipient, Adeline Alexander Award recipient and more. We will also be announcing and honoring our volunteer of the year and 4-H member of the year.

Center Piece Decoration Contest @ County Awards!

Each 4-H club is asked to bring a fall themed table center piece decoration for the county awards banquet. A prize will be awarded for the best decorated center piece. We look forward to seeing what you bring!

Pot Luck Item to Bring Based on Last Name:

A—G: Bring a dessert (cake, cookies, brownies, etc.)

H—O: Bring a side dish (potatoes, beans, vegetable, etc.)

P—Z: Bring a salad (potato, macaroni, taco, etc.)

What should YOU bring to County Awards Banquet?

Dish for the pot luck dinner, silent auction item, table center piece decoration, your camera and $20 for 2019-2020 4-H re-enrollment.

Alpena 4-H County Awards

All Nominations & Award Applications are due Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.

Awards are given at the 2019 County Awards Banquet on October 20, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. Coordinate with your club leader for completing award applications and to make sure they are turned in on time. Remember, leader or parent input is needed on some applications.

1) Individual Project Awards (filled out by 4-H member & parent/leader)

There are over 60 different project areas you can apply for a project award in! They range from swine to robotics to clothing and textiles. You can apply for up to 2 project pin awards each year, and can not receive the same pin 2 years in a row. 2) 4-H Member of the Year (filled out by 4-H member & leader’s signature)

2019-2020 4-H Member of the Year Application

The 4-H member of the year serves as the face of 4-H throughout the 2019-2020 year. They lead and participate in all of our major 4-H events and more. Are you interested in stepping up and making a difference in our community and promoting 4-H? Apply and complete an interview (October 2, 2019, starting at 6:00 p.m.) for the 4-H member of the year. The winner and runner-up will be announced at the banquet. Applications are available at the Alpena MSU Extension office or they can be e-mailed to you.

3) Adeline Alexander Award (filled out by 4-H member & leader’s signature)

Recognizes a 4-H member for their personal appearance, foods, homemaking, craft related skills and participation in 4-H. New this year, 4-H members apply for the award and 3 pictures of the 4-H members accomplishments must be attached to submitted applications.

4) Nominate a 4-H Member for an Award

  • Achievement, Citizenship, and Leadership (filled out by leader)

Club leaders, nominate outstanding 4-H members for one of these special 4-H awards.

  • Teen Leader (filled out by leader)

Club Leaders, nominate 4-H members that serve as teen leaders in your club. Teen leaders must be 4-H age 13 as of January 1, 2019, shown 4-H leadership during the 2018-2019 year, attended five club meetings, mentored a younger 4-H member and went above and beyond what is expected.

  • Personal Development/Most Improved 4-H Member (filled out by leader)

Who has shown the greatest personal development in your club over the past year? Club leaders, please nominate a 4-H’er for this award. Leaders can nominate one person for every 10 in their club.

  • I Dare You Award (filled out by leader or parent)

Do you know a 4-H member that has shown great leadership or potential, but could use some encouragement to take on that leadership? Nominate them for the I Dare You Award.

5) Nominate an Outstanding Adult Volunteer

Is there a 4-H parent, club leader, council member or friend of 4-H that has shown exemplary commitment, service, dedication and more to 4-H? Nominate them for the Alpena County 4-H Volunteer of the Year.

6) Nominate Yourself or Someone to Serve on Council

Are you interested in making a difference in our community? Help guide and advise 4-H in Alpena County by serving on our 4-H Council, the advisory group for Alpena 4-H. Nominate yourself or someone by emailing eaglingm@msu.edu or calling 989-354-9870. Please do not Facebook message because it makes keeping track of the nominations difficult.
