Biographcal Information

Joe Herriges held a tenure stream joint appointment as Professor of Economics, and Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at MSU. His research spans environmental and resource economics and applied econometrics, with a focus developing techniques for improved estimation of recreational demand. His methods emphasize structural econometric estimation and discrete choice models. His papers have been published papers in Review of Economics and StatisticsJournal of Environmental Economics and ManagementJournal of Econometrics, and American Journal of Agricultural Economics.

He currently serves as associate editor at Environmental and Resource Economics and transitional editor at the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, and has previously served as managing editor at the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management. He is coauthor of the revised third edition of the classic text, The Measurement of Environmental and Resource Values.  Professor Herriges was named a 2013 Fellow of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE). It was announced at the 5th World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists held in Istanbul June 28 - July 2, 2014.
