Steve Longabaugh joined the department in July 2001 with 12 years of in-country experience in West Africa (Liberia and Guinea). He works on the Food Security Group projects. His work has included:

  • Assist with project management and administration along with developing and implementing project communication strategies
  • Developing thematic maps (based on project generated data) for outreach to policy makers and stakeholders;
  • Analysis of household panel data in Zambia and Kenya;
  • Maintains and develops the Food Security Group family of websites;
  • Developed financial management system for Food Security Group in-country project directors. Trained staff and implemented system in Mozambique, Zambia, Mali and Rwanda and provided backstop support;
  • Assists with project communication and management.

Research and Outreach Interests

  • Applying managerial experience, including assistance in running in-country projects
  • Mapping data in different products for outreach to policy makers and stakeholders (ArcGIS)
  • Experience with spreadsheet (Excel) and data base (Access) applications, web site development and maintenance (DreamWeaver) and analysis of household survey data (SPSS, STATA)
