Fellowship Programs

Norman Borlaug Fellowship Program

The MSU WorldTAP in collaboration with the USDA-FAS hosts Dr. Normal E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellows. Since 2005, MSU has hosted over 40 Borlaug fellows from all over the world. This program offers training and collaborative research opportunities to scientists, researchers, and policymakers from developing countries. The Fellows work with MSU faculty member for up to 12 weeks period. Upon return of the fellow to their home countries, faculty mentors from MSU visit fellows home institutions to further share research experiences and develop long term collaborations. 

Cochran Fellowship Program

The MSU WorldTAP in collaboration with the USDA FAS has successfully hosted more than 300 Cochran Fellows that has provided short-term training opportunities for up to two weeks to agricultural professionals from middle-income countries, emerging markets, and emerging democracies. The Cochran Fellowship program goals are to help eligible countries develop agricultural systems necessary to meet the food and fiber needs of their domestic populations; and strengthen and enhance trade linkages between eligible countries and agricultural interests in the U.S. The Fellows receive hands-on training to enhance their technical knowledge and skills in areas related to agricultural policy, trade, agribusiness development, and marketing.
