About the FASS index:

The Michigan State University Food & Ag Systems Sentiment (FASS) Index trace consumer perceptions and trust in the U.S. food system month to month with a nationwide sample. 

The index measures this sentiment based on a wide variety of dimensions, including people’s perceptions related to: 

  • Food access
  • Government agricultural and food policies
  • Prices dynamics
  • Future food products supply
  • Agribusiness activity
  • And the overall U.S. food system.

This index is designed to create a new and important tool that fills the current gap of information related to consumers’ concerns regarding the agri-food economy. It is the index intention to assist stakeholders, industry professionals, journalists, policymakers, and academics with their understanding of the US agriculture and food industry.
