Prospective Graduate Students

I am always interested in talking to prospective students and I encourage you to send me a letter or e-mail stating your interests and attach a copy of your CV or resume.

I look for bright, energetic and committed students with a passion for their particular area of research. All of my students are grant funded and I am generally able to accept about one student per year. Many students in my lab have been successful in winning competitive fellowships.  For full consideration for MSU-sponsored fellowships, full applications are required to the Department of Entomology by December 15 for admission the following fall. For other deadlines (NSF and USDA pre-doctoral) see the individual agency websites. My current students are a great source of information about the lab and I encourage you to contact them for more information. – Doug.

Undergraduate research

I occasionally post opportunities for undergraduate research on MSU's Venture page, or you can contact me directly.
