4-H News & Events

Attention: Exhibitors of ALL Large Livestock!

Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) Requirements

Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is a national multi-species quality assurance program for youth ages 8 to 21 with a focus on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development.

All youth who will be exhibiting beef cattle, sheep, swine, goats, dairy cattle, market rabbits and/or poultry in 2020 MUST complete the online YQCA certification no later than June 1, 2020. This will be an annual program for all exhibitors of the above listed species for a $12 fee per youth exhibitor.

Exhibitors can access this program by visiting yqca.org. There will be an option to use your existing 4-HOnline account (used for 4-H program year registration), which is the preferred method, to signup for the YQCA courses OR create a new account. If you use the 4-HOnline account information to register for the YQCA program, your certification completion will automatically link to your profile. If you choose to create a new account, each exhibitor will need to provide proof of completion--in the form of a screenshot, pdf attachment, or Certification #--to Sara Lewis (seitzsa1@msu.edu) no later than June 1, 2020.

Please direct any questions to Sara Lewis by email at seitzsa1@msu.edu or by phone at 734-240-3174.

Livestock Pre-Registration Forms

In an effort to better prepare for the event that the 4-H program may have to provide an outlet for a virtual show and auction platform, we are gathering pre-registration information for our market livestock species--beef cattle, sheep, and swine. This information will also be used to verify possession dates. All exhibitors of market livestock should fully complete the appropriate form(s) and return to Sara Lewis (seitzsa1@msu.edu) no later than June 1, 2020. Be sure to include the requested photos in your email.

Please direct any questions to Sara Lewis by email at seitzsa1@msu.edu or by phone at 734-240-3174.
