2025 Preharvest Blueberry Extension Twilight Meeting

Join MSU Extension on June 16 in South Haven or June 26 online for updates on blueberry pest management, irrigation and research.

Michigan State University Extension invites blueberry growers to the 2025 Preharvest Blueberry Extension Twilight Meeting on Monday, June 16, from 6-8 p.m. at DeGrandchamp Farms in South Haven, Michigan, located just north of Jericho Corners (18026 68th Street, South Haven, MI).

This in-person event will feature: 

  • A brief industry update. 
  • Presentations from Michigan State University specialists on key preharvest topics, including insect and disease management, new plantings and irrigation in preharvest. 
  • A visit to active research plots at DeGrandchamp Farms. 

For growers who cannot attend in-person, the same program will be offered via webinar on Thursday, June 26 from 6-8 p.m. This option is ideal for growers in west central Michigan or anyone who misses the in-person meeting.

  • Cheyenne Sloan – Weed management in blueberries 
  • Carlos Garcia – Thrips scouting and management 
  • Rufus Isaacs – Sampling berries for spotted wing drosophila and integrated pest management for blueberry maggot 
  • Josh VanderWeide – DeGrandchamp project update (including soil moisture and berry development) 
  • Younsuk Dong – Fertigation and pulse irrigation 
  • Tim Miles – Late season disease management 

Restricted use pesticide credits 

Attending this meeting will earn two restricted use pesticide credits for certified applicators. 

Registration 

There is no cost to attend, but preregistration is recommended so we can plan handouts, dinner and refreshments accordingly. Onsite sign-in will begin at 5:30 p.m., and a pizza will be provided before the meeting.
