4-H Exploration Days’ gains support from Samsung

Michigan 4-H and Samsung establish a relationship for 2013 Exploration Days.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The highlight of many youth’s summer is attending Exploration Days and the 2013 4-H event was no different. One notable difference this year was a new relationship established by Michigan 4-H Exploration Days and Samsung.

The Samsung Summer Science Program was created to engage young people in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to inspire future careers in these important subjects through participation in hands-on activities. Exploration Days was one of seven summer camps that Samsung supported at Land Grant Universities across the nation.

In addition to its grant, an in-kind donation of Galaxy Note 10.1 tablets from Samsung provided youth with the opportunity to collect and process data for their projects and share real-time updates of their work and campus experience. Soon information will be sent out to 4-H staff in counties with participants involved in these STEM sessions outlining further opportunities regarding Samsung Summer Science Program Involvement. One student will be awarded a technology package that includes a Samsung Chromebook, Galaxy Note 10.1 and a camcorder based on their efforts in bringing the content they learned during the Samsung Summer Science Program back to their local communities.
