Position Summary
The Departments of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) and Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Michigan State University (MSU) invite applications for a tenure-system faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2020. Candidates must have appropriate academic background and a doctoral degree at the time of appointment. The Departments are looking for a highly motivated individual who can complement the missions, expertise and current strengths in both departments and contribute to these in teaching, research and service. Candidates with interests and demonstrated background in any area of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and any other related engineering disciplines are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research and teaching program with activities in both departments. The BAE and CEE departments have faculty members with research interests in water and waste treatment systems, contaminant fate and transport, exposure and risk analysis, environmental health, food security, surface and sub-surface hydrology, ecological engineering, and integrated small- and large-scale modeling of natural and engineered water systems considering human and natural usages of water. BAE also houses the Institute of Water Research at MSU. Applicants from all related areas are encouraged to apply, but there is particular interest in:

  • Intelligent water resources engineering
  • Novel data sensors, networks and data collection approaches
  • Challenges at the food/water/energy nexus
  • Addressing emerging chemical and biological contaminant problems
  • Innovations in exposure and risk analysis

Required Degree
Doctorate - Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
