Campaign Checklist

This checklist can help you create a multichannel marketing campaign.

Goals and Objectives

  • What are the goals and objectives of the campaign?
  • How will success be measured?

Define Campaign

  • Determine the Campaign Name
    • A short, unique name with no spaces suitable for use as part of a URL
  • Determine the landing page URL for the campaign
  • Create campaign URLs using the Campaign URL Builder
  • For any mediums where the URL will be spoken, read, written, or typed consider using a Vanity URL for that specific campaign URL

Website

  • Determine appropriate website tags
    • Post new content in dotCMS and tag it so it appears on related websites and content
    • Find and tag existing content in dotCMS if you need it
  • Add Call to Action entries to promote specific events or pages

Social Media

Additional Marketing Channels

  • Email
    • Draft content for appropriate existing email newsletters
  • Ads
    • Print and digital ads in appropriate publications 
  • Graphics
    • Fill out the project request form to request graphics (for social media or ads) from the design team
  • Videos
  • Media Releases
    • Reach out to appropriate communicator to draft and release media advisories and/or press releases 
    • Consider using Cision to promote press releases to media contacts directly
  • MSU Communications collaboration

Report and Reflect

  • Gather analytics from website, social media and other utilized mediums
  • Create report and distribute to appropriate stakeholders 
  • Reflect on results and compare to goals
  • Adjust for future planned campaigns
