Effective weed control can be one of the greatest production challenges farmers encounter. New weed challenges, including glyphosate and multiple herbicide resistant weed species, can alter your weed management plan. The 2019 MSU Weed Control Guide for Field Crops (E0434) from Michigan State University Extension provides the latest information on different herbicide options for weed control in all of Michigan’s major field crops. This guide also provides new and updated information on new herbicide-resistant soybean traits, for example LibertyLink GT27 and Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean.

Additionally, this guide includes information on how to submit weed and crop injury samples to MSU Diagnostic Services. It also provides the most up-to-date information in new fact sheets in the back of the guide on how to manage: multiple herbicide-resistant Palmer amaranth and waterhemp; herbicide-resistant horseweed (marestail); common windgrass in wheat; and several other troublesome weeds.

While this guide can be found online at MSU Weeds, it is always handy to have a hard copy of this guide in your sprayer, vehicle or office. The 2019 MSU Weed Control Guide for Field Crops (E0434) can be purchased online from the MSU Extension Bookstore for $12 plus shipping and sales tax.
