Northwest Michigan Hops Tour slated for early August
Michigan State University to co-host hops tour and field day on August 10 with Michigan Brewers Guild.
If you are interested in learning about all facets of hop production, we invite you to attend Michigan State University’s (MSU) fourth-annual Northwest Michigan Hop Tour and Field Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 10. Participants will meet at the MSU Horticultural Research Center in Traverse City, Mich. and travel to Old Mission Peninsula.
With support from the Michigan Brewers Guild, Michigan Hop Alliance, and Mission Table Restaurant, the participants will visit the state’s oldest commercial hopyard, MSU research trials, learn about picking and processing, enjoy lunch at Old Mission Peninsula’s Mission Table, learn about brewery needs and learn about the role of hops in beer production from Michigan Brewers Guild Executive Director Scott Graham.
To register for the field day, please visit the field day’s event page on the MSU website.
Only 20 spots remain, so please sign up soon. Remember – when you drink Michigan beer, you are supporting brewers, farmers and the Great Beer State of Michigan. Please contact MSU Extension at 231-256-9888 for more information.
Dr. Rob Sirrine is a Community Food Systems Educator with MSU Extension’s Greening Institute and provides statewide leadership for hops production.
