Rachel Carson's campus legacy has CSIS touch

Work that is core to CSIS is part of a tribute and retrospective of the impact of "Silent Spring," RachelSilent Spring museum panels Carson's 1962 book credited with launching the environmental movement. That means a beautiful display of pandas, tigers and fish in Ag Hall.

“Echoes of Silent Spring” is the major exhibition program at the Michigan State University Museum, withcompanion displays developed around campus where environmental research takes place today. The MSU Museum is working with partners across campus to produce the exhibit program, and these three panels (right) can be found with other College of Agriculture and Natural Resources work in the Ag Hall atrium.
A campus walking trail is also in the works, showing spots around MSU that were chronicled in the Silent Spring story, and some believe, even providing inspiration for the book’s title.
Jack Liu is the Rachel Carson Chair in Sustainability. He and Tom Dietz appeared in an MSU video celebrating Silent Spring's anniversary.
msu museumThe exhibit runs through the end of the year, and will also feature multimedia and online educational companions.
