Background

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, where I grew up fishing.  I decided during my undergraduate studies that I wanted to have a career in fisheries, namely fish ecology.  My graduate position enabled me to spend the majority of my time in the field, where I learned a great deal about how fish interact with their environment.  Modeling offers me the opportunity to explore interactions that are difficult or impossible to explore in the field, thus expanding the range of research questions I can ask—and answer.
