Welcome to the Quantitative Fisheries Center
The Quantitative Fisheries Center seeks to provide a research, outreach/service, and teaching program to
- build greater capacity within fishery management agencies in quantitative methods;
- improve quantitative methods for assessing fish stocks;
- assist agencies to use model-based approaches in decision making;
- develop a better understanding of fish community and population dynamics.
Dr. Norine Dobiesz, a scientific programmer/senior research associate at the QFC since 2013, passed away December 2018 after battling abdominal cancer. Norine was a staple at the QFC providing computing advice to students, research associates, and faculty and was a major advocate for hard thinking, data integrity, and software version control. She is greatly missed.
