Homemade Baby Food - Avocado Puree

Try this simple recipe for making homemade avocado puree baby food!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1-2 tsp. breastmilk or formula or water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash your hands using soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  2. Clean and sanitize all food preparation surfaces, including equipment like your knife and cutting board.
  3. Rinse avocado under clean, cool water and scrub the skin with your hands or a vegetable brush.
  4. Place avocado on a cutting board, cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Cut in half again to obtain a quartered avocado.
  5. Remove the quartered avocado from the skin using a spoon.
  6. Place the quartered avocado in a bowl and smash with a fork until you reach smooth texture.
  7. Optional, add liquid (water, breastmilk or formula), starting with one teaspoon until desired consistency is reached.
  8. For a smoother texture, you may push the puree through a sieve or small mesh strainer.
  9. Serve immediately to baby. Discard uneaten puree within two hours.

*Do not add seasonings to puree.
