Sterilization

Segment: 8. Plant Culture & Propagation, Standard: Manage characteristics of growing media. (Pathway II.A.4)

Description

Sterilization has to do with getting rid of microbes and fungus that could be growing within the media that you can reuse in the future. The best way to sterilize your media is to bake it or pasteurize it to kill anything that may still be growing within the media. Once you have baked the media, make sure to store it within a closed container to keep out pests or weed seeds.
