Heads In, Hearts In: Science Activities
4-H's mission is to empower youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults. One goal to achieve that mission is to connect in-school learning with out-of-school-time opportunities that enhance learning. That's precisely the focus of Heads In, Hearts In: A Delivery Approach to Family Enrichment 4-H Programming. These resources encourage youth and families to use their minds (putting their "heads in") as a tool to expand their knowledge around variety of topic areas. By creating a shared educational experience, youth and their families will work, grow and learn together, putting their "hearts in" to the process.
Heads In, Hearts In: A Delivery Approach to Family Enrichment Programming – Science Activities are designed to help Michigan State University Extension staff members to involve partners in facilitating a family enrichment program around the topic of science education. Family enrichment programming is an approach to education that involves youth and their families learning together as they focus on a topic. This page includes the full science activity book containing all 33 science activities, the staff guide for tips for facilitating a family enrichment event and all 33 science activities available for download individually.
Heads In, Hearts In Family Enrichment programming is also available in a series of literacy, early childhood and healthy living activities! For information on bringing a family enrichment event to our community or school, contact your local MSU Extension office or Jodi Schulz at (989) 895-4026 or schulzj@anr.msu.edu.
