Strong platform at college level

Provide a coordinating function with college leadership across three missions: research, teaching/training and outreach. Closely working with department and school chairs and directors to build and support global linkages and partnerships, external funding opportunities and rapid response to international needs.

Empowering departments/units

Strengthen international engagement capacities in CANR departments and schools focusing on faculty and student engagement globally.

On the ground presence in different geographic regions worldwide

Expand CANR engagement in different regions of the world with strong links to alumni networks, existing MSU programs and projects and other regional and global networks.

CANR global engagement

Our strategic approach includes:

  • CANR visibility and presence at international fora and symposia through exhibitions, special panels, side events (e.g., World Food Prize Symposium).
  • Representation of CANR administrators and faculty on advisory boards and advisory committees for national and international centers, foundations, development agencies, private sector organizations, etc.
  • Enhancing linkages with global networks (CGIAR, African Union, UN-Networks, etc.) – both public and private sectors and south-south partnerships.
  • Enhance publicity and information of CANR international programs at key places on MSU campus (e.g., Atrium of Morrill Hall of Agriculture, Plant Science Building atrium, International Center atrium, etc.).
  • Annual donors and partners summit and round tables at MSU showcasing CANR flagship programs and other thematic areas including climate change, nutrition, biotechnology, food security, precision agriculture.
  • Projects to Programs: Institutionalization of long-standing successful projects into programs and platforms.
    • Projects that are running for several years
    • Establishment of special endowments to enhance and sustain international programs
  • Faculty recognition and rewards for engagement in international programs.
