Developing Youth Through Gardening

MSU Extension Master Gardener (EMG) volunteers work with youth through school garden projects, programs at farmers markets, and the Junior Master Gardener Program. Many of these projects (e.g. Junior Master Gardener Program) involve collaborating with MSU Extension’s 4-H staff. These MSU EMG projects enhance learning by providing real-life applications of math and science concepts while developing an appreciation for gardening, the environment, and nutrition.

These resources are for MSU EMG’s working on gardening with youth projects. There are many great resources with lesson plans and curricula. Resources such as information about school gardens and the Junior Master Gardener program are also provided.
