Daphna Gadoth Attends Spring 2023 Michigan Society of American Foresters Meeting

Daphna Gadoth, Senior Research Assistant for FCCP, attended the Spring 2023 Michigan Society of American Foresters (MI SAF) Meeting in Grayling, Michigan. The meeting drew over 200 forestry professionals from across the state to share information on current forestry issues, programs, and advancements; exchange ideas, grow networks, and strengthen relationships across diverse sectors; and to advance the forestry profession through science, education, and a community of mutual respect.

The spring meeting featured a variety of speakers, including Scott Pugh and Jeff Bellaire from U.S. Forest Service, Asia Dowtin from the MSU Forestry Department, Lawrence Sobson and Jeff Stampfly from Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Kirin Kennedy of U.S. Senator Stabenow’s Office, U.S. Representative Jack Bergman of Michigan’s First Congressional District, and many more.

Gadoth currently serves as the Education Fund Raffle Chair on the Michigan SAF Board. In attending the MI SAF meeting, Gadoth had the chance to learn from and engage with fellow forestry experts. She also participated in a field tour on the banks of the Au Sable River and learned about sustainable forest management to promote resilient trout populations in northern Lower Michigan.
