NCI Launches NEW Online Synchronous Schedule

Don't miss out on NCI's newest training opportunity, taking place in the month of June.

NCI’s purpose is to build capacity for collaboration. We do this by training and supporting professionals and community leaders in the practice and use of the NCI Charrette System, and more broadly in quality community engagement.

NCI spent last year updating its certificate-based training curriculum and is now adding a new modality for delivering this signature course. The next class is June 6, 10, 13, 15, 17 and you can now register by clicking here.

The Online-Synchronous training blends about 10 hours of independent, online learning with 12 hours of live, virtual labs, spread across two weeks where participants practice charrette preparation exercises. This course is equivalent to the 3-day in-person version and represents a collaborative project management system centered on the co-design process using charrettes.

The course includes lessons on:

  • Project assessment tools for gauging the length and cost of a charrette using a project budget, political considerations, and design difficulty
  • Nuts-and-bolts tools needed for managing a multiple-day charrette
  • Introduction to diversity, equity and inclusion and ways to make charrette processes more inclusive
  • Approaches for dealing with conflict.

Upon completion of the course, you will know how to plan for, host, conduct and facilitate a multi-day charrette. Click here to learn more about the online synchronous training.

As always, you can also take this course at any time through NCI’s Online-Asynchronous course. This version is a self-paced course with about 10 hours of content, plus independent work such as readings and exercises. Click here to learn more about online asynchronous training and to register.

We look forward to seeing you online in June!
