C5 - Turfgrass Division oral presentation competition winners:

Turfgrass Science Session

  • Jackie Guevara Grad student: 1st place oral presentaion "Evaluating Kentucky Bluegrass and prennial seeding ratios for sod grown on plastic production." Jackie also scored the highest total across all turfgrass sessions and is first choice to represent C5 in the Society competition
  • Ryan Bearss: 2nd place oral presentation "Growth and rooting characteristics of Kentucky bluegrass sod harvested from various production systems."

Turfgrass Water Conservation Session 

  • Mike Rabe Grad student and assistant farm manager took 3rd place for his oral presentation: "Hydroponic system rootzones for sustainable putting green management

2023 Chris Stiegler Turf Science Student Travel Award and Fellowship awardees from Michigan State University:

  • Payton Perkinson (MS student awardee)
  • Jackie Lyn Guevara (PhD student awardee)

In Dr Wessel's lab: Bernard Frantz placed 3rd with his pedology poster "Michigan Marl provides a source of agricultural lime which is almost unlimited"

And this year, representing CSS undergraduates and the Agronomy Club, 

MSU Scored second place in the SASES Tri Societies Undergraduate program in the national competition. Kate Voisinet, Trey Ellens and Emma Woller presented the MSU Agronomy Club's "Pre-Career Fair Mixer" poster.
