Local research, pest management and Farm Bill updates covered at northeast Michigan meeting

Join MSU Extension specialists and educators on Jan. 10, 2020, for local research, pest management and Farm Bill updates at the Pest and Crop Management Update Meeting.

Michigan State University Extension will once again host a winter Pest and Crop Management Update Meeting in northern Michigan on Jan. 10, 2020, at Alpena Community College, 665 Johnson St, Alpena, MI 49707, in Room CTR 106. MSU Extension specialists and educators will cover topics on 2019 local on-farm research projects, 2018 Farm Bill commodity programs, building wheat yield potential, white mold and tar spot management, weed control, and optimizing corn and soybean planting decisions for next spring.

Pre-registration is required to ensure an accurate count for meals and materials. Please register at least one week before the event at 2020 Pest and Crop Management Update Meetings or by calling the MSU Extension Presque Isle County Office at 989-734-2168.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for participants to sign in, have a light breakfast and receive program materials. A catered hot lunch will be provided, as well as a hard copy of the 2020 Weed Control Guide for Field Crops (Extension bulletin E-434). The meeting will adjourn at 3:30 p.m.

Participants will be eligible to obtain four MDARD Pesticide Applicator Recertification Credits, as well as one MAEAP Phase 1 certification credit. The cost to attend is $30.
