USDA NIFA Award to study the inheritance of the seed microbiome during abiotic stress

Ashley and collaborators Chad Niederhuth (Michigan State) and Matthieu Barret (INRA, Beacouzé, France) have been awarded funding from the USDA - NIFA to investigate changes in the seed microbiome during plant exposure to abiotic stress, and the consequences of those changes for the resilience and wellness of the subsequent plant generation.

The College of Natural Sciences provided a press release here.

Fulbright Scholar Fina Bintarti and incoming MMG PhD student Abby Sulesky will be working on this research, with help from undergraduate Professorial Assistant Joanna Colovas.  Congrats, and looking forward to moving this exciting research forward!
