Principal Investigator (PI) & Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) Exception Requests

Applies to:

Individuals with appointment titles such as research associate, post-doctoral fellow, specialist, and visiting or adjunct faculty with non-continuing appointments in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). These individuals are not eligible to serve as PI/Co-PI on sponsored projects without approval from the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI).

Procedure:

To apply for a PI/Co-PI exception request, individuals must complete and submit an online form by using the link below. 

It’s encouraged that individuals inform their respective Chair/Director about the PI/Co-PI request prior to submitting the form.

Upon submission of the form, the request will be reviewed by the applicable department Chair/Director, CANR AgBioResearch - Office of Research Support, AgBioResearch Associate Director, and ORI for final review and approval.

The requests are processed as quickly as possible, but to assure timely approval, it is recommended that you apply four (4) weeks before the proposal deadline.
