Anna is the Apple Production Specialist for MSU Extension in the Grand Rapids region. She works closely with Amy Irish-Brown and other MSU educators, industry members and stakeholders to provide horticultural programming and conduct research to support the Michigan apple industry. Her work is focused primarily in the Fruit Ridge region and at the Clarksville Research Station. Anna earned her master’s degree in Horticulture from the University of Maryland where she worked on a number of tree fruit-related projects, including variety evaluations, scion-rootstock compatibilities, and production practices suitable for Mid-Atlantic growers. Afterward, she worked for several years with Cornell Cooperative Extension as the Apple and Grape Specialist for Northeastern NY in the Champlain Valley, providing programming to support growers in this region. She earned her PhD in Plant Pathology at Cornell University at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, New York, where her work focused on the sustainable management of fire blight. She is passionate about developing and communicating solutions to advance the sustainable production of apples, and she looks forward to working with growers in Michigan.
