Babalola Akinola is an Associate Professor at Babcock University and currently the head of Agricultural Economics and Extension Unit of the Institution. His areas of specialization are Agribusiness and Resource Economics. He has participated in both internal and locally funded research efforts particularly in the areas of climate change mitigation, sustainable food production and food safety. His interest in community service made him to be appointed as a board member in a Federal Government funded community development project on cassava-gari value chain in Ogun state, Nigeria.

His current research focuses on food safety and health economics, indigenous fruits and vegetable marketing analysis, agri-food value chain management, poverty alleviation and women empowerment in agriculture. Akinola has always had interest in sustainable agriculture development and this is reflected in his collaborative and independent research and publications both in local and international journals of repute. He is part of the Nigerian research team on the MSU RSM2SNF project.
