Dusan Paredes is a Full Professor in the Department of Economics at the Universidad Católica del Norte, where he conducts research in the fields of regional and urban economics. His research expertise is focused on identifying causal mechanisms characterized by the spatial interaction of markets, with a particular emphasis on regional labor and housing markets.
 
Dusan has built his career in research, teaching, and university management. He previously served as Dean of the The School of Business and Economics and Director of the Department of Economics at the Universidad Católica del Norte. He was also elected as President of the Chilean Society of Regional Studies – SOCHER and nominated by the President of Chile to serve on the esteemed National Commission for Evaluation and Productivity.
 
Dusan is the Principal Investigator of several research projects, including three FONDECYT projects in Chile and other projects funded by the National Agency for Research and Development – ANID. He has also led projects in the United States, collaborating with the Department of Agriculture and the Lincoln Land Institute. In recognition of his scientific contributions, he received the Peter Nijkamp RSAI Award in 2017.
 
Dusan teaches at the undergraduate and graduate level in the areas of Microeconomics, Spatial General Equilibrium, and Econometrics.. Currently, Dusan serves as an associate editor of the Resource Policy journal (ISI Q1) and is a reviewer for various international scientific journals. He is also a member of different commissions of the National Agency for Research and Development – ANID. 
 
Dusan lives with his family in Antofagasta and likes to play chess.
