Jan Fierro is the Communications Manager for the Feed the Future Biotechnology Potato Partnership, a USAID funded program with the goal of bringing a genetically modified Late Blight resistant potato to small-holder farmers in Bangladesh and Indonesia. In her capacity, Jan focuses her efforts on all aspects of internal and external global project communications for both projects.

Jan also serves as the Communications Manager for the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Legume Systems Research, a five-year research and capacity building program funded by USAID that focuses on grain legumes, including common bean in Central America and cowpea in West Africa. The Lab responds to agricultural development priorities and objectives focused on reducing global hunger, malnutrition and poverty. In her capacity, Jan focuses her efforts on all aspects of internal and external global project communications for both projects.

A graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Communications Arts and Sciences, Jan has 20+ years of experience creating and executing successful advertising, marketing, special event and sales programs for numerous organizations and nonprofits throughout the US. Jan has also spent time in the classroom, teaching and empowering our youth. She joined MSU in 2017 and is thrilled to be back on campus. Jan enjoys exploring new cultures, Michigan summers and MSU Football. Go Green!
