Subject Matter Expert, Food Laws and Regulations in China

Kuei-Jung Ni is Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Trans-Pacific Partnership and Transnational Trade Laws at School of Law, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan.

He specializes in international economic law, international environment law and bio-technology law, especially covering the cross-cutting issues of trade, environment and public health. His present study focuses on exploring transnational regulations on food safety and risk analysis, including normative works of competent international regimes, such as WTO, RTA, Codex and the Biodiversity Convention etc., and national implementations as well.

He has written dozens of articles appearing in trade, environment and health law journals. Recent publications include “Food Safety and International Trade” (Angle, 2016); “Compulsory Licensing for Clean Technologies” (World Trade Review, Vol. 14(4), pp. 701-719, 2015); “Science and Technology in International Economic Law,” co-edited with Bryan Mercurio (Routledge, 2014). In 2013, he was awarded the grant of the Senior Fulbright Research to do research about food safety law and policy at the Petrie-Flom Center of Harvard Law School.

Prof. Ni received his PhD in law from the University of Edinburgh, an LL.M from the University of California at Berkeley and an LL.B from the National Taiwan University.

Prof. Ni is a guest contributor to the IFLR course Food Laws and Regulations in China.
