Misty Oebel is a Health and Farm Stress Educator with Michigan State University Extension.  The Managing Farm Stress program is committed to providing education about the warning signs of stress and suicide risk for farmers, and offers connections to resources like teletherapy.  She is housed in Mount Pleasant, MI and serves Clare, Gladwin, Isabella, Mecosta, Missaukee, Osceola and Wexford counties, but also provides support as part of a statewide initiative.

Prior to joining MSU Extension, Misty worked with the Gratiot Isabella RESD to provide services to young adults with barriers to education or employment. She taught workshops on topics related to life skills and employment, and worked with community business owners and agencies to provide learning work experiences for participants. Additionally, she worked for several years as a Family Therapist with teens and families in the foster care system.  In this role, she worked with individuals and families in crisis to identify and develop support systems and healthy coping skills. Misty has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on clinical applications.
