Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences

Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) is a national organization with chapters around the country that welcome people of all backgrounds in agriculture and natural resource-related careers. ACRS (Association for Crop and Soil)

 

The Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences graduate student organization Association for Crop and Soil (ACRS) works to provide crop and soil graduate students with social and professional support.

Created in October 2015 by graduate student Mike Swoish, the organization began as an opportunity for graduate students in crop and soil sciences to connect with other graduate students, faculty and future employers.   

With the intention of increasing social involvement within the graduate programs, the organization holds happy hours, meetups, new student welcoming parties, a booth at Plant Science Recruitment Week and after-school socials. Learn more about ACRS. 

 

AGRONOMY CLUB

The MSU Agronomy Club is open to all undergraduate students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Club members sponsor several social functions during the academic year, such as a faculty-student barbecue at the beginning of the fall semester and a faculty/student ice cream social during the spring semester.

Students gain valuable experience by working on club projects and also have opportunities to meet professional agronomists. The club is a unifying force to help students from many backgrounds get to know each other and work together. Learn more about MSU Agronomy Club. 

 

Association of Molecular Plant Science Students (AMPSS)

The mission and goal of AMPSS is to unite members of the Molecular Plant Sciences program through a structured, established system in order to facilitate a more enjoyable graduate school experience. AMPSS also helps organize the yearly Fascination of Plants Day (May 18th) -- an international event celebrating the importance of plants for agriculture, biodiversity, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.

 

SPORE (Student Phytopathological Organization for Research and Education)

The Student Phytopathological Organization for Research and Education (SPORE) serves as a network of support for Plant Pathology­­ students in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences. Learn more about SPORE. 

 

TURFGRASS CLUB

The Turfgrass Club offers a variety of social and professional experiences for all interested undergraduates. Club members take field trips to golf courses, football stadiums, equipment dealers, and other pertinent areas for on-site examination of turfgrass management practices.
