This project was started in 2002 as part of the community project, Plant-a-Row for the Hungry. The garden, 85' x 25', was amended with compost and cow manure and then planted with a variety of vegetables. The garden has grown a little itself and is now 95+ X 25 feet with an additional plot of 25 X 25 feet. The dedicated volunteers brought in a respectable harvest of over 2000 pounds their very first season. Over the last six seasons the Plant-A-Row Garden has produced over 15,700 pounds. The produce is donated to the Forgotten Harvest organization which then distributes it to local food banks and other needy charities. The Plant a Row project has continued to be a fulfilling and enlightening volunteer experience in the area of vegetable gardening.
