    Jonagold and final picks of Honeycrisp are being harvested this week in the west central region. Golden Delicious and Empire are moving closer to maturity. Rome and Idared are still immature.

    A dramatic change in weather this week. Harvest of Honeycrisp, Gala and McIntosh is nearly finished. Golden Delicious, Empire and Ambrosia are beginning. Red Delicious, Fuji and other varieties are right behind.

    A few Honeycrisp remain to be harvested in southwest Michigan. Growers are now switching to harvesting Jonagold, Golden Delicious and Red Delicious.

    McIntosh have been harvested in many locations. Gala have been harvested this week at some locations, and Honeycrisp harvest will be starting soon for some growers. Jonagold and Empire are still immature.

    The region received rainfall this week, and this water will help improve size of apples. Growers are eager to begin harvest of standard varieties.

    Gala harvest is finishing up with Jonagold and Honeycrisp mature for many orchards in the southwest Michigan area. Brown marmorated stink bug trap catches have increased significantly over the past week.
