Finance & Risk Management

Much of the matter under the Animals and Crops headings has to do with technological risks and new technologies. Investment choices and altered risk environments naturally raise questions about financing, including incentives to invest and tools available to manage risks. Some of the work covered under this heading follows through, though in a rather idiosyncratic way, on some of these connections. Other work, as with many of the crop insurance studies, emerged from seeking to better understand public policy on risk management in production agriculture. Going forward, chair activities will address further themes in crop insurance and agricultural investment choices.
