Youth Mental Health First Aid is a training designed to teach adults how to recognize and respond to mental health challenges and crises in youth. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. This course includes 2 hours of online self-paced pre-work and 8 hours of instructor led time via Zoom. Instructions on how to access and complete the course pre-work, as well as Zoom information, will be sent out via email to registered participants.
This event is open to MSU Extension staff and will be held online via Zoom. There is no cost to participants. Participants will receive the Zoom link one day before the training.
