  • Chris Swanston is the Forest Service Climate Advisor and Acting Director for the Office of Sustainability and Climate. Chris joined the Forest Service Northern Research Station in 2007, and in 2008 became the director of the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science (NIACS), a partnership led by the US Forest Service and designed as a boundary-spanning organization providing climate adaptation services to land managers. He’s also served as director of the USDA Northern Forests Climate Hub since 2014 and project leader for the Climate, Fire, and Carbon Cycle Sciences research group in NRS since 2018. Chris serves on the US Stakeholder Council for 1t.org and is a section Editor-in-Chief for Climate (Adaptation and Mitigation).
