How to Prioritize Your Content

It's easy to overload a website with too much content, especially because mobile visitors make up the majority of our audiences.

Here is a quick process to help you determine what content should take priority on your website:

  1. List the primary goals your department is trying to meet.
  2. List the various audiences you provide content for on your website.
  3. For each audience you have identified, list the most important pieces of content you believe they would be interested in.
  4. Consider which audience is your primary focus and which ones are important but can have dedicated subsections on your website.
  5. Sketch out a linear wireframe of the content that should be displayed on your homepage (and potentially on the index pages of your major subsections).
  6. Implement this wireframe using an existing website template.
