Lauren Cooper, Forest Carbon and Climate Program Director, had the opportunity to speak at the Forests of Opportunity annual SFI conference with Jad Daley, President and CEO of American Forests. Their session was titled “Rethinking Our Carbon Future: The Climate Change Conversation – Linking Supply Chain Drivers to Achieve Forest Resiliency and Carbon Goals”. Lauren and Jad discussed the critical role managed forests play in addressing climate change.
Creating linkage between certification and supply chain drivers will allow sustainably managed forests to become a powerful tool to address climate change. They also addressed the role of SFI standards in promoting “Climate Smart Forestry”, and the challenges and opportunities being faced in the public conversation about forests, carbon, certification and climate change.
