Kristine Hahn is a Community Food Systems Educator in District 11, and has provides support for school gardens in an effort to improve the school food systems in southeast Michigan. This is accomplished through outreach efforts such as the annual “Starting and Sustaining a School Garden” conference, the monthly Michigan School Garden newsletter along with teacher professional development sessions to Detroit Public Schools.

She has worked with local partners to develop the Urban Roots Community Gardening Training program that has increased the self-sufficiency of Metro-Detroiters to be providers of good food in their neighborhoods. Ms. Hahn also delivers food system and food hub education to primarily urban audiences. 

Kristine has worked for MSU Extension for 17 years. She held the position of Horticulture Educator for the first 12 years where she oversaw the Wayne County Master Gardener program and developed an urban gardening program with local partners. 

Kristine has a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Botany from Florida Atlantic University, and grew up in Royal Oak, MI. She now lives in Waterford with her two dogs.
